Hello! This is the
Dreams and Teams Blog, a space where Young Leaders from Egypt and around the world work together. Blogs are the next big thing in Internet publishing. By blogging here, you will be on top of this new wave. Think of it as your "own publishing house".
Before anything else, let us begin by introducing ourselves. During the last two years, since I started working with D+T, I had a few opportunities to get to know some of you on a more personal level, and I would love to get to know you all better. My name is Amr Gharbeia. I have a bachelor in Management Sciences, with a few extra credits in banking. I have been working as a
freelance translator since I was a student, and have been associated with D+T and other
British Council projects, also with numerous organisations inside and outside Egypt. I worked as a part-time
assistant librarian, and have relations with the publishing industry in Egypt (the
book fair is coming this month!). I am also an active volunteer in the fields of environment, youth, content management; and very recently, we started the procedures to start an NGO that would work as a venue and provide logistical support (room, equipment, and communications...) to assist active members in the community, the Young Leaders for example.
I do a lot of traveling around Egypt, mostly to remote places: the Sinai High Mountain Region, the deserts East and West of the Nile Valley, and the Old Nubia south of Aswan, and come back with load of stories, photographs, and ideas that help me picture how I am going to contribute to my community.
There is a lot We can do in D+T besides sports festivals. This is something to discuss with Young Leader from different parts of the world later this summer in Sharm.
I am looking forward to seeing you blogging, and reading what you have to say about your history with D+T (You too Mr. Rashed, Amina, Simon, and five Tutors), also about your interests and ideas regarding working together.
