Nari's youngest brother, Abdalla, drowned three days ago. I might have sent her a message saying I am sorry while she cluelessly slept in Norwich. This is the second time she rushes to Cairo this month. The first was when her dad, already 93, had a stroke. "Relatively stable but so much older than 2 weeks ago", she told me.
She has always worried about who will take of her schizophrenic baby brother after her parents are gone. Abdalla often got in trouble on the streets with other people. He, rightly, hated doctors, which made his health. At one point I suggested persuading him to see Mostafa Hussein to give him a proper diagnosis so he could be declared Nari's minor and move to England. I guess all this has been taking care of now at the cost of Nari's heartbreak. The media and the public are very interested in talking about Hassan Youssef's son death in every ugly way possible. I really hope the family have not yet paid attention to any of this
I still do not know if it was a suicide. We might never now. If children have any responsibility towards their parents, I think it is outliving them.
