[[id:182a67c6-8bb4-46ed-afd0-7c0d2a6358f0][Aalam Wassef]] died of cancer last today. It has been terminal for a while. I have not spoken to him since 2012. That's over a decade now. Even though I discovered him politically as video maker and musician Ahmed Sherif, and despite his brief run into security sometime in 2014 if I remember really well, I have avoided communication with him mainly because of how he treated Nari more than me really.

I was sort of relieved when [[id:930bec22-759a-4a8f-88b5-9b15351c96e4][Lobna]] told me she is breaking up with me (and my money, I decided consequently) to be with Aalam in June 2012. It has been coming since three years at least. I was glad it she was with someone else, even sexually. She was not my burden any longer. I was gutten though at how much effort I had put in the relationship up to that point, and I am still grateful to how [[id:b5748f3e-e42b-45e9-adfb-66c148be4d75][Salma Said]] and [[id:a9304475-c20e-4e1a-a5e7-93163f0d35d7][Leil Zahra]] carried me thought the critical days and weeks of disconnection. However, the worst and best of this episode now has to do with Nari. It was at this point that [[id:fe56f2f1-d8b3-4610-acf3-279fd6ed54f1][Nari]] and I became close at more than one level. Later in London I joked we met at a swinging club, given my girlfriend and her husband were fucking. Not that I cared at that point, neither intellectually nor emotionally, but it was a landmark to be cuckolded half-acceptingly (Also with [[id:8e864e08-69b2-4241-9434-8ffdaad95f00][Sherief Gaber]], particularly on the beach in Sinai) and I think was a turning point for me and my relationship with Nari since.

Aalam himself? Half smart, half talented, but I understood the charm. Moving on...
